Compare

Airbnb cleaning vs regular house cleaning

One keeps a home comfortable for the people who live there. The other has to make a property look like its listing photos, by four o'clock.

The two options compared

Option A

Airbnb turnover cleaning

A fixed reset between guests, inside a same-day window, ending with the property staged to match its photos.

Best when

  • Short-term rentals between guests
  • Same-day turns with a hard deadline
  • Properties judged by reviews
  • Hosts who need a report on what was found
Option B

Regular house cleaning

Maintenance for an occupied home, scoped around the household living in it.

Best when

  • Homes people live in
  • Recurring weekly, biweekly or monthly service
  • Personal preferences and priorities
  • Flexible timing within a day

The deadline changes everything

A house clean can run long. A turnover cannot. Check-out is at eleven, check-in is at four, and there is no version of the day where the property is not ready. That single constraint dictates how the work is organized: a fixed sequence, a fixed scope, and no discretionary tasks that could overrun.

Restaging is the part people skip

A guest booked from photographs. If the property is spotless but the cushions are wrong, the throw is folded differently and the coffee table is bare, it does not match what they booked. Restaging to the photographed arrangement is part of the turnover, and it is the step that separates a cleaning service from a turnover service.

What a turnover adds that a house clean does not

  • Beds stripped and remade with fresh linens from your on-site sets
  • Refrigerator checked and cleared of anything a guest left
  • All trash and recycling removed from the property, not just relined
  • Every guest touchpoint wiped: remotes, switches, handles, thermostat
  • Furniture and decor returned to the photographed positions
  • A report on damage, breakage, low consumables and items left behind

What a house clean has that a turnover does not

Depth and personalization. A recurring house clean can rotate detail work across visits, adapt to a household's priorities, and build up over time. A turnover is deliberately identical every time — no rotation, no adaptation, because consistency is the product.

Where hosts get this wrong

The most common error is booking a standard house clean for a short-term rental and expecting a turnover. The cleaner arrives, does an excellent job on the surfaces, leaves the beds unmade because nobody mentioned linens, and the host gets a review about the bedroom. Nothing went wrong with the cleaning — the wrong service was booked.

One more thing worth being clear about: we are a cleaning company. We do not provide property management, guest communication, linen rental or restocking programs. We clean and we report.

Verdict

The short answer

If guests are checking in and out, book a turnover. If people live there, book house cleaning. The scopes overlap but the deadline, the linens and the restaging do not.

A property that does both — lived in most of the year, let for a few weeks — needs both services booked separately rather than one stretched to cover the other.

Still deciding?

Can I use my regular house cleaner for Airbnb turnovers?

Only if they are set up for it: a fixed window, linen handling, restaging and reporting. Many excellent house cleaners are not, and that is a scheduling and scope problem rather than a quality one.

Do you supply linens for turnovers?

No. We use the linens you keep on site. Hosts with two or three sets per bed get the fastest and most reliable turns.

How long does a turnover take?

It depends on the size of the property and how tight the window is. A one-bedroom unit is short and fixed; a three-bedroom house with a fully used kitchen takes considerably longer.

Ready when you are

Airbnb turnover cleaning or Regular house cleaning?

If the verdict above still leaves it open, describe the property and we will tell you which of the two actually fits. If guests are checking in and out, book a turnover. If people live there, book house cleaning. The scopes overlap but the deadline, the linens and the restaging do not.
