Compare
Standard cleaning vs deep cleaning
The two services are not different amounts of the same work. They are different lists, and picking the wrong one is the most common booking mistake we see.
The two options compared
Standard cleaning
The repeatable maintenance visit: kitchen, bathrooms, dusting and floors, run to a fixed checklist.
Best when
- Homes cleaned within the last six weeks
- Anyone on a weekly, biweekly or monthly schedule
- Keeping a home level rather than resetting it
- Predictable visit length and price
Deep cleaning
The reset: everything a standard visit skips, from baseboards and door frames to grout, vents and fan blades.
Best when
- Six months or more since the last thorough clean
- Before starting a recurring schedule
- After pollen season or before hosting
- Homes with visible buildup on glass, grout or edges
Side by side
The differences that matter
| Criterion | Standard cleaning | Deep cleaning |
|---|---|---|
| What it covers | Surfaces used daily | Everything, including detail work |
| Baseboards and door frames | Spot-cleaned only | Wiped along their full length |
| Ceiling fans and vents | Not included | Blades, covers and reachable fixtures |
| Grout and hard-water buildup | Surface wipe | Scrubbed and descaled |
| Appliance interiors | Not included | Available on request |
| Behind and under furniture | Not included | Where it can be moved safely |
| Typical duration | Around 3 to 4 hours for a 3-bed home | Around 5 to 7 hours for the same home |
| How often | Weekly, biweekly or monthly | Once or twice a year |
| Cost per visit | Lower, and discounted on a schedule | Higher — roughly double the time |
The real difference is the list, not the effort
People often assume deep cleaning means the same tasks done more carefully. It does not. A standard visit and a deep visit are two separate task lists, and the deep list contains items the standard list never touches — the top edge of a door frame, the base of a faucet, the inside lip of a shower track, the mat of dust on a fan blade.
That distinction matters because it changes what a disappointing result actually means. If a standard clean left your baseboards gray, the standard clean did not fail; it was the wrong booking.
How to tell which one your home needs
- 1Look at a door frame at eye level. Run a finger along the top edge. If it comes back gray, the home needs a deep clean.
- 2Look at the shower glass in daylight. A visible haze that does not wipe off is mineral film, and it needs descaling rather than wiping.
- 3Look at where the floor meets the baseboard. A visible line there is the clearest signal that maintenance has been running without a reset.
- 4Count the months. More than six since the last thorough clean means deep, almost regardless of how the house looks.
The sequence that costs least
Over a year, the cheapest way to keep a Dallas home at a good standard is one deep clean followed by standard visits on a schedule. The deep clean sets a baseline; the schedule holds it. Booking repeated deep cleans because the home keeps drifting is the expensive version of the same outcome.
Cost, honestly
A deep clean takes roughly twice as long as a standard clean of the same home, and time is what drives the price. We do not publish flat rates for either, because bathroom count and condition move the number far more than square footage does. What house cleaning costs in Dallas and what deep cleaning costs break down the variables.
Verdict
The short answer
If it has been under six weeks since a thorough clean, book standard. If it has been six months or more, book deep. Between those two, look at the door frames and the shower glass — those two surfaces will tell you which list the home is on.
If you are starting a recurring schedule, start with a deep clean regardless. It is the difference between a schedule that maintains and one that spends a year catching up.
Still deciding?
Can I book a deep clean for one room only?
Yes. Deep cleaning a single bathroom or kitchen while the rest of the home gets a standard visit is a common arrangement, and it needs to be arranged in advance so the extra time is scheduled.
Is deep cleaning worth it every year?
For most Dallas homes, twice a year is closer to right — once after pollen season and once before the holidays. Homes on a weekly schedule with rotating detail work can often go to once a year.
Does deep cleaning include windows?
Interior glass, sills and tracks, yes. Exterior windows are not included at any level of service.
Ready when you are
Standard cleaning or Deep cleaning?
If the verdict above still leaves it open, describe the property and we will tell you which of the two actually fits. If it has been under six weeks since a thorough clean, book standard. If it has been six months or more, book deep. Between those two, look at the door frames and the shower glass — those two surfaces will tell you which list the home is on.
