House cleaning

Do cleaners bring their own supplies?

Short answer

Ours do — products, cloths and equipment for every visit. You are welcome to have us use your own products on particular surfaces; leave them out with a note and they will be used instead.

It is a fair question to ask any cleaning company, because the answer varies. Some expect you to supply everything. Ours arrive with what the visit needs.

What comes with the team

  • General purpose and neutral pH cleaners
  • Bathroom products, including descalers for hard-water film
  • Glass and mirror solution
  • Degreaser for kitchen work
  • Microfiber cloths, color-separated by area
  • Mops, buckets, scrub pads and detail brushes
  • A vacuum with a filtered bag or canister
  • Gloves and any protective equipment needed

When your own products are the better choice

There are surfaces where the manufacturer's recommendation beats a general product, and situations where a household simply prefers something specific. Both are easy to accommodate.

SituationWhy your product may be better
Natural stone countersMarble, limestone and travertine need pH-neutral products. If your fabricator supplied one, we will use it
Sealed or oiled hardwoodSome finishes have a specified cleaner and using anything else voids the finish warranty
Allergy or sensitivity in the householdFragrance-free or specific formulations, used consistently
Households with infants or petsWhere you have already chosen products you are comfortable with
Specialty appliance finishesSome matte and coated stainless finishes mark with general products

Cloth separation, and why it matters

Cloths are separated by area and never crossed. Bathroom cloths do not go near kitchen counters, and toilet cloths are separate again from the rest of the bathroom. This is not a marketing point — it is the single most basic control in cleaning, and it is why a team arrives with a stack of cloths rather than a bucket and a rag.

What we will not use

  • Acidic products on natural stone, which etch it permanently
  • Bleach on colored grout or fabric
  • Abrasive pads on stainless, glass cooktops or acrylic tubs
  • Steam on original hardwood
  • Any product left out that we think will damage the surface it is intended for — we will say so rather than use it

Equipment questions people ask

We bring our own vacuum, but if you would rather we use yours — some households prefer it for allergy reasons, or because a particular floor needs a particular head — leave it out and say so. For hard floors we use flat mops with fresh pads rather than a string mop and a shared bucket, because reusing dirty water is the fastest way to leave a floor looking worse than it started.

Related questions

Are your products safe for pets and children?

The products we carry are standard professional cleaning products, used as directed and with surfaces dried. If you want specific products used in your home, leave them out and we will use those instead.

Do you use eco-friendly products?

We are happy to work with the products you choose, including any specific eco-friendly line you keep in the house. Leave them out with a note and they become your standing arrangement.

Do I need to supply anything at all?

No. Trash bags for your own bins and any paper products you want restocked are the only things worth having on hand.

Will you use my vacuum?

If you prefer, yes. Leave it out and let us know. Some households prefer it for allergy reasons or because a floor needs a specific head.
